With its fragrant small white or pink flowers, sweet alyssum is another low-growing cool-season flower that can provide a carpet effect until late spring. Especially nice alongside a sunny pathway. Plant in fall to early spring, though, as with all these cool-season flowers, a fall planting is best. Don't worry about them making it through the winter. They will be fine unless we get abnormally hard freezes.
